Hi to all,
Regarding the survery--my son (26) was diagnosed in 1989 at age 19 while he
was a student at Villanova U. after having problems for at least a year. He
had a biopsy which was said to be positive for sprue. When we went for a
second opinion in 1991, they told us the original biopsy did not show
blunted villi and he was told to go back on gluten. He does have problems
with milk, soy, corn but would NOT go back on gluten because he was feeling
so well. Basically he is wellnow other than "gas" problems. He eats only
homemade meals (he lives on his own) and no pre-packaged foods except for
an occ. bread from a health food store and what I send him when I can. He
has gained weight, looks wonderful and feels good. The only other symptoms
he had was that his hair started turning white just after he was diagnosed.
He also has asthma. I often tell him to test the diet but he does not want
to be sick so he will never do a challenge. Also he feels he is eating a
very good and well balanced diet. I used to tell him that he got CD from
all the pizza and beer he had as a freshman in college although he did have
occ. problems when he was young.
