I received a bunch of responses and LOTS of requests for summary. This seems
to be an issue worth further investigation. If anyone finds anything out
please let us all know. I will list the responses I got below (please note:
I think some of the products listed below are gf, but not necessarily
dairy-free).

I use Ensure.

I use Carnation Instant Breakfast and I have no problem with it, my
nutrionalist told me to have in a shake as I was trying to gain weight as I
lost so much before I was diagnosed in Sept. Figure if she says it is fine
it must be as she specializes in CD, also has it herself.

Peanut Butter Banana shake
1 small ripe banana, broken in chunks
1 1/2-cups cold soy 'milk'
1/4 cup smooth peanut butter
2 tsp. sugar (optional)
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Dash of nutmeg (optional)

In blender or food processor whirl all ingredients except nutmeg until
smooth and frothy. Or mash banana in bowl; blend in peanut butter and sugar;
stir or whisk in soy and vanilla until smooth. Pour into glasses; sprinkle
with nutmeg. Makes 2 servings.

Ensure and Glucerna are both gluten. They provide you with 25% of all the
required vitamins and minerals for a 2,000 calorie diet. Personally, I use
butter pecan glucerna it is for those with diabetes. My 2 year old daughter
actually steals them out of the frig. They are great for traveling when you
are unsure of the gluten status and etc of the foods.

Do you know if slim fast is gf? I think it is good if put in blender
with ice and made into a milk shake.(ANSWER: no I do not. Anyone?)

I use boost. Its really good!

I re-read the label and found
"leaf of barley" and "granola flavor" so I have e-mailed Nature's Plus and
will let you know the results. They have a variety of shakes and I
requested a GF product list.

The EAS AdvantEdge Quick Stir Protein Drink is gf.

I checked with the company before using it. This can be mixed with or
without milk.

You can purchase this at Wal-Mart too.

I use Silk Coffee Soylatte. Distributed by White Wave, Inc. Boulder,
Colorado 80301.
I order mine by the case from Fred Meyers Store. They also have chocolate
and vanilla.

I read on another listserve that 'Dr. D'Adamo is coming out with a new
protein powder soon. He is anti wheat and dairy for blood types O so I
would expect it to be free of those items....as for soy I don't
know....anyway go to www.dadamo.com and keep an eye out for the
product...you can order his products from his website....he is also coming
out with new protein bars.

Most EAS bars are GF. They have a variety including low carb bars. I buy
them at Walmart. Check out the products at www.bodyforlife.com.

I'm a dietitian & I strongly recommend the protein
shake products from a company called Metagenics. To
VERIFY it's gluten-free, call them at 1800-647-6100.
You can order it direct from NEEDS.com or at
1800-634-1380. In particular they have a Rice or
Soy-based meal replacement called "Ultra-meal" it is
well fortified w nutrients too. I mix it w/ rice or
soy milk but it can also mix w/ water.

I found on called Tru-Soy in Vanilla flavor. Labelled as containing NO
yeast, artificial coloring or flavorin, wheat, rice, egg, rye, or animal
by-products.

I called them and asked about gluten-free. They said it did not contain
gluten, but was not made in hypoallergenic conditions that would guarantee
that so it's not on the label. I believe the chocolate did contain
something (malt?) that would not be g.f.

Website is www.trusoy.com or 1-888-776-5383

I decided to buy it based on the conversation I had with them in the store.
I had purchased it for a friend who was hospitalized but complications set
in
& he died before we could give it a good trial. He was the best l.f./g.f.
guinea pig we had in our support group.
