I recently read that on Wednesday June 14, 1995, a couple by the name of
Turner was convicted of starving their three year old son to death in
Miramichi, New Brunswick.

Because of the experience my husband and I went through having our daughter
diagnosed as Celiac, I wondered if this may have any bearing on this particular
case. I admit that prior to this small article in our very small local paper,
I had heard nothing about it previously. I was wondering if anyone in the
Maritimes would have any information on this case.

Our daughter, prior to being put on a gluten-free diet, could well have done
commercials for Children's Funds in the third world. At one time she was so
very ill that the doctor's were testing for leukemias and cystic fybrosis.
Had we not, going against doctor's recomendations, put her on the gluten-free
diet, I wonder if we would have faced crimminal charges in the event of, what
was at that time probable, death.

Just something to ponder, I suppose.
