    Becky and her family have my sympathy, and I hope her son will
be able to eat safely in the future.

    I would like to comment, however, that when something is "wheat-
free" it is not necessarily safe for celiacs.  The converse is also
true.  If something is safe for celiacs, it isn't necessarily safe
for someone with a wheat _allergy_.  I don't know how common it is
for those of us with wheat allergies to also react to corn (as I
do), but I've made the mistake of assuming something was safe because
it was made for celiacs.  Upon reacting, I checked and discovered
the cookies contained corn starch.  Sigh.

    I guess we always have to read the label, look things up, and
ask questions.
