Subject: GF Cocktail Sauce (sensitive to vinegar too)

I am looking for a GF Cocktail sauces for my Shrimp tray-
I have a GF and vinegar sensitive guest too- they know they can tolorate
apple cider vinegar. But are not sure of what others do not bother them.
Thanks for your help!

I will summerize as I see that there has not been a post about cocktail
sauce in over a year! Thanks for your help!!

Gretchen

SUMMARY:

1) I buy Kraft Cocktail Sauce, which is very good. But I'm pretty sure it
has distilled vinegar in it -- but it is GF. I'm guessing you'll probably
have to make your own from scratch. Since I'm figuring she also cannot have
catsup or worchestershire sauce ... it'd have to be pretty simple: plain
tomato sauce, freshly shredded horseradish (unless you can find bottled
horseradish without vinegar and also GF), a little apple cider vinegar, a
dash of sugar, and a squeeze of lemon juice.

2) I use Annie's Ketchup with worchesire sauce and wasabi mayo added.
However, ketchup does have vinegar. Fresh lemon on plain shrimp is nice.

(Not all worchesire sauce is GF is it???)

3) Hi,
Here's some shrimp cocktail recipes. Maybe there's an acceptable one among
them. I've found some nice recipes at this site:
http://www.cooks.com/rec/search?q=shrimp+cocktail+sauce

Hope this helps and Happy Holidays!

4) Try making your own. Ketchup, apple cider vinegar, horseradish, lemon
juice, and chili powder.

5) fyu,,,kuje nany cekuacs you are sensitive to white vinegar because
distilling does NOT remove all the gluten. people wish it did, but it
doesn't. you probably will not have problems with apple cider vinegar or
wine vinegars. watch out tho for balasamic vinegar unless it is the ages
variety. the cheap stuff is cut withe white vinegar

6) I have had a problem for a long time trying to find gluten free cocktail
sauce but so far no luck. It is a pity too, I live in Maine, and fresh
Maine shrimp is being sold on the side of the road for $1.25 a pound. I
don't know how you are at experimenting in the kitchen but I thought I would
try using Heinz ketchup and Louisiana Hot Sauce, and experiment with adding
apple cider vinegar. Just a thought I wanted to share with you. Good luck.
Happy holidays.

MY RESULTS? I used Wegmans Horseradish sauce- they decided to give it a
try- because they weren't sure which vinegar they were sensitive to. I used
the receipe Easy Shrimp Cocktail Sauce on www.cooks.com from #3: 1/2 cup of
Heinz ketchup, 2 heaping Tablespoons of horseradish, and 1/4 teaspoon of
lemon juice. Success!!
