Dear friends at celiac@listserv,

One of our members asked me the other day what normal ferritin levels should be. I referred to a website called excess iron, which gives a lot of information onthis subject. In addition I just received an e-mail from someone on the list who said normal ferritin levels for those with ferritin problems should be somewhere between 45-75. This range would be for those with this problem, and an acceptable ferritin range for those without this problem would actually be higher, something like 150-250 depending on the reference range.

I am not sure about the accuracy and am just sending what was forwarded. If anyone else on the list knows they might add their information. FYI I don't think elevated ferritin is especially related to celiac disease or gluten sensitivity -- but I don't know.

Denise
