Hi Everyone,

Our daughter and I are both celiac. We have been running into situations where we eat at friends' homes (not GF) and are served GF food. (Same for restaurants.) Our friends understand the GF diet. My question is about contamination. Our daughter was exposed to gluten by contamination from a noodle pot recently in a home of someone who I thought "gets it". We are in the camp of feeling really poorly when exposed but without the "aha" symptoms; sometimes we are unsure of when or where we were exposed.

I guess my question is really a social one. Do you eat from non-GF kitchens? I guess I'm a little afraid of offending my friends who go to a lot of trouble to prepare GF food, and are proud of their knowledge of the GF diet, but also have a gluten laden kitchen, and might actually understand imperfectly.

One friend of mine only serves our daughter stuff from an unopened package (individual yogurt and chips) when she goes over there. I'm really comfortable with this, but I don't want to put unnecessary restrictions on our daughter. What do you guys think?

Warmly, Keri
