Okay, I'll proof recipes.  Reasonable enough request.

I like the background annecdotes.  They help me evaluate whether the
writer's experience and my own are similar enough for me to apply the
information.

Perhaps a format of facts in the first paragraph, and then annecdotes to
back up the facts in the second would facilitate skimming?  Just an idea.
