Hi,
I have been diagnosed with CD and gf for 16 months.  My initial blood
work showed a strong positive IgA of 34 and a negative IgG. Based on
this, and a family history (father) of CD,  no biopsy was done.  Since
then I have been strictly gf.  I cook most of my food, only going out
occasionally to Outback.  I just received the results of a follow up
blood test and it showed a weak positive IgA of 24.  IgG is still
negative.  I am so careful, researching all of my food, watching for
cross contamination, even staying out of bakeries (where I have had
severe attacks twice), and out of the kitchen when my husband bakes
cakes until the whole baking process is done and everything wiped down
good.  I have changed everything about my dietary life and can't believe
I still show a weak positive.  Is this normal?  One person told me that
the IgA is the slowest to go down and not to be concerned.  Naturally,
though, I am.  Does this mean I'm somehow still being exposed to gluten
and that damage is still being caused to my small intestine?  This is
really completely unexpected and discouraging news to me.  Anyone else
experience this after such a long period of time?  Any insight would be
greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
