Hi Everyone!

Thanks so much for all of the replies re: headaches. I received over 40 responses!

Here is a summary re: possible causes. Suggested treatments will be sent tonight or tomorrow. Thanks!

Some possible causes:
increased stress can cause headaches

Gluten exposure can casue headaches

sublte gluten contamination from other sources (topical on the body; environmental). Machinery contamination in food processing. Take note of anything used on the outside--makeup, hair gel, lotions, etc. & recheck for g.f.

retest for possible antibodies(to ensure gluten-free diet is working)

have furthur testing. If you ask for a referal to a neurologist they are better equiped to help.

Start a "headache" diary, listing the time & duration of the headache as well as describing how it feels (stabbing pain behind eyes/forehead vs. dull throbbing pain on side/back of head). This may help the doctor at least figure out what kind of headaches she's having.

make sure visual acuity is OK.

not eating enough calories, hormones (female), dehydration, hypoglycemia, teeth/jaw problems, too little or too much sleep, calcium supplements, excess salt, muscle tension, &too high or low blood pressure can all be a trigger

an adrenal system disorder from lack of protein/amino acid or anemia can be a factor.

keep a food diary...Start w/ a steno notebook w/ the spiral at the top. Foods eaten go down the left side with draw a line between meals to denote approx time of day. Symptoms go down the right side in the appropriate time frame.

elimination diet &allergen test such as the ELISA panel can help identify triggers

stop all caffeine !

eliminate aspartame & artificial sweeteners (they cause headaches)

allergy to: yeast, sesame seeds, corn/corn sweetener/vegetable thickener, dairy products especially cheese, onions, chocolate, red wine, coffee, bananas, msg, soy, tapioca, salad dressing, sulfites, nightshades, citrus, Nitrites &dyes

Sometimes can be from a brain tumor.

***End of causes***
