Here is what I got back, thank you to everyone for responding!

These where posted on the listserv some time ago:

High Cotton Maverick Bar & Grill   199 East Bay Street
Magnolias   185 East Bay Street
Slightly North of Broad   192 East Bay Street
Jestine's Kitchen   251 Meetings St.
Thai Lotus   7648 Northwoods Blvd
Noisy Oyster   2408 Maybank Highway  (John's Island)
Sticky Fingers  (wings and ribs are listed as GF)

I also noticed several locations for Outback and Longhorn steak houses in the yellow pages entries for Charleston and surrounding communities.

Still, be careful and ask about the GF status of any meal you order in any restaurant anywhere.

The Fat Hen    on Maybank Highway    great GF Crab Cakes, French Fries fried in a dedicated frier but you must tell them you need GF as they have 2 friers one is used for everything.  Lots of GF choices

Pane E Vino     Italian has great  meals downtown  Upper King on a side street Warren Street   no need for pasta because they have lots to choose from Anson's, Fulton Five  will make your pasta if you call ahead and use their sauces,
Outback and Longhorn steak houses

Grocery Stores:
There is a grocery store in the shopping center between Seabrook and Kiawah carrying 1-2-3 Gluten Free mixes which are easy to whip up. They also carry some pasta and Gluten Free Rice crackers.

We have all the usual places like the Outback and Longhorns which is my
favorite place in the north area.

One place we loved was S.N.O.B. (means slightly north of broad). They have a real chef there so you might see if they know what gluten free means. In particular we flipped over the shrimps and grits dish which is usually easily modified to be gluten free, if not already gf as is. As the name implies, this place has somewhat of an attitude so we went for lunch and were glad we did. It's cheaper and the foods the same pretty much as at dinner.
