Hello all,

I recently received a summary from a kind sould on the list as to the items
on the Cracker Barrel menu that are gluten-free. We visited a Cracker Barrel
in Roanoke Virginia and I ordered the green beans - they told me that they
put "bacon" in their green beans and was that okay. I looked at my list and
I saw "bacon" on the list so I figured it was okay. Well, I was only able to
eat 2 bites because instead of green beans with bacon, it seemed to be green
beans cooked in bacon grease - I tasted the grease above all else (and saw no
bacon pieces!). Fortunately, I only ate 2 bites because I wound up with a
reaction! Has anyone else had this happen? We stopped at other Cracker
Barrels in our travels and I did not have trouble with any other items (I
especially like their mashed potatoes!)

As another side note - I have been to many different restaurants and ordered
poached eggs with no problem - except at a Cracker Barrel in Canton, OH the
poached eggs arrived looking just like fried eggs. I told the waitress that
I ordered poached eggs and she said that that is the way they fix them -
poached in grease. LOL! I told her that I classify that as "fried" and that
I couldn't eat it - not knowing what the grease contents were, etc. and not
preferring it. They brought back boiled eggs in the shell because they did
not know how to poach eggs in water. Holy wah. That's nearly as surprising
to me as the time my Mom ordered raisin toast and the waitress brought out 2
pieces of toast and a small box of raisins. LOL

Deb
