Listmates,

A few months ago I was diagnosed with DH through a skin biopsy. Because of a
change in my health care insurance, I had the opportunity to change
dermatologists, one who was closer to my home. Neither dermatologist
prescribed dapsone. The first prescribed sulfapyridine; the second
Azulfidine (generic name: sulfasalazine). Both physicians told me that the
reason that they had not prescribed dapsone was because of possible side
effects. I was wondering if anyone else had used these drugs and how
effective they were.
Since I've been gluten free for about 3 months, I really don't know how
effective the drugs are. I still have some redness and scaring but no
blisters.

I've also read on the list that those with DH have a very diverse period
after the ingestion of gluten and the onset of the DH symptoms. What I would
like to know is how long the dermatological symptoms persist after one
returns to gf diet.

Thanks..
I'll summarize..
