Some of you may remember that I posted that my twelve year old
granddaughter was recently diagnosed with a 30% spine curvature due to
Scoliosis, and I asked if there was an association with CD.  I have
gluten-sensitivity with the two primary CD genes; my daughter was
recently diagnosed with it, and now my granddaughter, who is having a
terrible time with both diagnoses.  She's at that age when it's so
important to be like everyone else.  Remember being 12?  Just telling
her that being GF may prevent future autoimmune diseases (I have more
than one) means absolutely nothing at her age.  Can anyone provide me
with web sites or any information or contacts that will help her with
coping with both?  I absolutely ache for her since I remember what a
grieving process I went through!  The worse part is that I'm in Texas
and she's in New York, and I feel like I'm so limited in the help I can
give her.  When the grandkids visit with me, they'll take suggestions
that their mom thought never possible, in typical child form!  My
granddaughter is angry with her mother, doesn't want to wear her full
back brace to school when she's supposed to eventually wear it 23 hours
a day, and feels like her life is ruined because her mom insists she
take healthy foods to school.  Her grandma wants to help!  Any input
would be greatly appreciated, especially from the perspective of a 12
year old.
