In my youthful glee I managed to throw the List into a tizzy! I have
been inundated with emails asking for more information. Please forgive
me . . . and here are the rest of the details on the products I have
found at Target.

First, only a SUPER TARGET will have any hope of carrying these specialty
goods. A Super Target carries a full line of fresh groceries in addition
to the usual items you would expect to find in a discount department
store chain. Milk, frozen pizza, bananas, the works. These stores can
be seen from great distances because of their immense size and likewise
require a good half-hour just to walk from one end of the store to the
other!

Second, the only products I have found to be specifically GF are: Mixes
from the GF Pantry, and Tinkyada noodles. I rarely purchase groceries at
Target and a friend actually found them first. The baking mixes are on
the Baking Goods isle, and I'm not sure about the location of the
noodles.

Third, my store sells these items for the same price they are listed in
the GF Pantry catalog. The difference is that I do not have to pay any
additional shipping, and Target does not add any profit margin like my
local health food store.

Fourth, your Super Target may not carry these items. Ask them to stock
your favorites and then tell everyone in your Celiac group to shop there.
As long as the inventory moves well, I think Target will continue to
carry any item a customer requests.

Ask any cashier to page a manager and you will get someone who remotely
knows what you want to talk about. (Target does not have "managers."
They have "Grocery Team Leads.") It would be extremely helpful if you
could take in a nice clean, but empty, package from the GF Pantry, or,
better yet, a catalog. They need enough information to actually contact
the manufacturer directly. I would love to hear from GF Pantry (are you
monitoring this list?) and know the details of how this business
arrangement first came about.

Here are some of the first postings; I will wait a week or so to post the
final summary:

"I also found the Gluten Free Pantry mixes at my local grocery store
Jewel in the Chicago suburbs! My husband and I were just talking about
how maybe someday, we would be able to find gf food at the local
"normal" grocery store and lo and behold, there it was! It is
definitely getting easier every year and by the time my celiac daughter
goes off to college in about 7 more years, it should be a cinch for her
to feed herself! Kudos to Jewel stores." Warmly,Bev Wahl

"The Target in the Fort Union area in Salt Lake (Utah) has some of the
Gluten Free Pantry mixes and some of the Annie's frozen dishes,
according to a member of the support group I attend. She says they are
a lower price than the health food store." Joanne

". I HAVE found some at World Foods, which was a break, and I noticed
that they are moving off the shelf." Naomi, Marietta, GA
