Hi everyone...

I have been suffering from major digestive problems for over a year now.
Back in December I was suffering from a bout of candida and temporarily
stopped eating wheat. When I had a meal of pizza after 1 month of beoing 95%
wheat-free I realized that a colicy small intestinal pain I'd had for almost
3 years was probably caused by wheat. I went totally wheat free for a month
then ate wheat again. I was fine for the first 18 hours, but then I had
stomach pain/nausea/loss of appetite for 3 days after. I mentioned this to
my GP, who then ordered the gluten panel for me. That came back high
positive for IgG antigliadin antibody, but normal for the rest. He had
already made me an appointment with a GI specialist, but the wait was 2.5
months and I still have 6 weeks to wait. I'm continuing to eat wheat-free
because if I eat wheat I can't eat anything else and I'm already at 100 lbs
with no room for more loss. I realize that this will compromise my
diagnosis.

I have been having some really odd symptoms and would like to hear if anyone
else has had them. I've noticed that there seems to be a strong neurological
component in my symptoms. For example, when I first wake up in the morning,
if my skin is touched or rubbed before I get up and walk around, the
sensation causes me to feel dizzy and nauseated. I am also almost constantly
nauseated even though I've been gluten free for a couple weeks (except I
still eat some oats). I have found several surprising food allergies in the
process (strawberries, citrus and tomatoes) that have the same delayed
symptom as wheat (loss of appetite, feeling of swollen stomach). Also, I have
trouble with sugar, mostly sucrose, which gives me a terrible stomach ache.

I take betaine HCl and digestive enzymes, both of which help tremendously. I
had also been taking some supplements intended to heal the intestines but
have stopped those for now as they seemed to be working, which would
compromise my diagnosis.

Clearly I have food allergies. My symptoms are all delayed, which makes me
question whether I have CD. My original symptom was what can only be
described as a intestinal seizure, and after each episode my stomach became
more sensitive.

Does any of this ring familiar with those of you with a CD diagnosis? I
haven't been able to find any single disorder that explains my symptoms, and
none that explain the nausea and the skin sensitivity.

Thanks,
Andrea in Alaska

P.S. The food section of our local paper had an article on CD and wheat
allergy this morning, and also included several GF recipes! It was a pretty
good article, though it refers to CD at times as an "allergy"
