I have a slightly different question, but related. I know we are not
supposed to lick envelopes due to the gluten in the adhesive. I also know it
is just smart to wash fruit before eating it. However, a good friend pointed
out to me the other day when we were out and eating an apple that I had
removed a label from the apple and hadn't washed it before eating it. (I had
wiped it and there were no faucets nearby.) I hadn't made the connection
myself. Is it correct to assume that due to the labels adhered to certain
fruit that we should be washing them before eating for this reason alone?
