A few weeks ago, I requested recommendations for eating out and shopping
in these areas. I've summarized the suggestions I received and listed
other places we found. Thanks for your input.

YUMA:
- Full Circle Health Foods at 4th Ave & 21st
- Oriental Gift & Foods at 1701 S. Ave B
(Not many places to shop for GF foods in Yuma, and small selection at two
stores listed above)
- Hometown Buffet
- Bubba's
- Restaurant owned by Nan Bain (used to own a restaurant in Hood River,
OR)
(I didn't find out the name of this restaurant)

Other restaurants we saw in town that probably would be OK were:
- Outback Steakhouse
- Red Lobster
- Wendy's and Subway

There is great, fresh produce at reasonable prices each week at the swap
meets (Thurs-Sun at three locations) and a Farmer's Market on Wednesday.

SEDONA:
- Nice Indian Restaurant near the Hampton Inn
( We found the India Palace in West Sedona next to the Inn; closed the
day we stopped by)
- Denny's Restaurant
- L'Aberge:" I was in Sedona in Sept of last year when I was first
diagnosed. In restaurants I ordered plain food except when we had dinner
at L'Aberge. I can't remember how to spell it. This is a very upscale
restaurant and very very pricy. The staff was terrific and they insisted
on checking with the chef on items that they recommended. So if you
want to treat yourselves to a special dinner this is the place to do it."
- "Sedona is hub of the New Age, so they get alot of visitors with
unusual dietary requests. Celiacs fit right in!"
- Connolly's Market (162 Hwy 179)
- New Frontier's Natural Foods (1420 W. Hwy 89A): This is a large store
with a great selection, including meats & produce.
- Shugrues Hillside Inn: Was recommended by a restaurant owner in
Cottonwood. Ate lunch there; good meal but not much choice on menu (had
salmon, vegies, salad). Rather pricey for lunch but fantastic view of
red rocks.

The following are other good restaurants/stores we found during our
travels the last few weeks:

COTTONWOOD (About 20 miles SW of Sedona):
-Rosalie's Blue Water's Inn: The owner (Rosalie) sat down with us and
discussed the menu and what was safe to eat GF. It was great! Most
everything is made right there. Went there for dinner twice.
- Mt. Hope Foods (853 S. Main) = Large store with great selection,
including produce.

PRESCOTT:
- Murphy's Establishment: Manager and staff helpful and worked with chef
to ensure items GF
(Same owners have Murphy's Grill in Cottonwood and Dambar Steakhouse in
Kingman--never eaten at either).

FLAGSTAFF:
- Outback Steakhouse: Manager and staff very helpful. Manager even said
he'd prepare my meal himself!

LAUGHLIN, NV:
- This was the first time I ate at a buffet since going GF. Did very
well at them. At the Edgewater ($5.99 for lunch and dinner), I was able
to ask the chef about several items in question. He said to always ask
to talk to a chef if there are any questions, so guess we shouldn't ever
hesitate to ask!

JULIAN, CA:
- Cuyamaca Restaurant & Market (About 8 miles south of Julian on Hwy 79
on Lake Cuyamaca): I was able to talk to both the owner (Austrian
born-very knowledgable about gluten) and chef about their menu items.
They offer both Austrian and American dishes. Had good meal--bratwurst
(locally made), German potato salad, sauerkraut & fresh applesauce
(probably made from local Julian apples).

In my original e-mail, I said we were travelling full-time in our RV. I
was so glad to hear from others that are either doing the same thing or
want to do it in the near future. Happy travelling and thanks again for
your input.
