This is my first posting to this list, so bear with me. I never dreamed I
had a food allergy, but I've always noticed that I have "instant diarrhea"
after eating certain foods or at certain restaurants. (Pizza, pasta, canned
biscuits, and fajitas were particularly noticeable). I never considered
this a big problem.

About six months ago, I developed a pain behind my right eye. It is a dull
(not throbbing) pain that often spreads through the entire right side of my
head, and down into the right side of the back of my neck. It never goes
away completely, but cycles from mildly uncomfortable to nearly
debilitating. After one family practice doctor, one osteopath, three
neurologists, one ENT, two Cat scans, one MRI, one MRA, one sinus surgery,
and about $1,200 worth of every imaginable kind of medicine, the headache is
still there.

Also during this six month period, I was hospitalized for chest pains which
turned out to be a hiatus hernia. I've had lots of upset stomach (possibly
due to the medications), and in the last month or two I've noticed
tenderness and stiffness in my left elbow, right knee, and right hip. I
have also begun to lose my appetite (and weight), and I often get an unusual
tight feeling in my jaws and neck, almost like nausea, but not quite.

I'm 36 years old and always considered myself healthy, except for periodic
bouts of stomach cramps when I was younger.

This week, a nurse friend mentioned that gluten intolerance might be a
possibility. I searched your archives and was shocked to find several
mentions of similar headaches and joint pain. My neurologist and ENT seem
skeptical, though.

I would like to hear from anyone who has experienced headaches brought on by
CD. Do my symptoms sound similar to anyone else out there?
