Question???
My niece is very sick and I have spent hours trying to convince my sister that she is most likely celiac as I and my two kids are.
She had gone on 30 sites and she said that if it was not sponsered by the American Gastrointestinal Org. that the doctors say it is not a legitimate site and not to pay any attention to it.
Has anyone heard any doctor actually say this or read it on any site as she says she did? I have been on umpteen sites for 2 1/2 yrs and never recall hearing this at all.
Also???
She said her doctor and the web-sites said it is extremely rare for men to have CD. I told her I found it hard to believe that because we had so many on this site alone and I find it difficult to believe that the percentage she gave would indicate that our site here probably has all the men that can possibly have it.
He also said that if one had Irish blood will automatically show the genetic markers even though they are not Celiac. I would have sworn I read of a situation where the family were ALL Irish and the wife thought she was the one who was responsible for her children and her having it and it turned out that her husband was the one with the gene, not her.
Would appreciate some help on this please.
Thanks,
