Sorry for the delay in posting this summary… I was overwhelmed by the wealth of information. I was impressed not only by the amount of responses, but by the in-depth details. I really appreciate ALL the information. I really can’t say thank you enough!!!

At the Phillies stadium:

* Philadelphia:

$$$ Matyson - new american food. Chef is excellent. BYO Walking distance from your hotel - must make reservations. Check out their tasting menu on line.

$$$ Capagiro gelato - a must - great gelato, a fav among the foodies in Philly.

$$ Bar Ferdinand - spanish tapas - they have a gf menu, one of our favorites. 10 min drive but worth it.

$$ Branzino - walking distance, great Italian byo. make a reservation.

$$ Zinc - walking distance - wonderful french bistro.

$$ L'Oca Italian - chef is amazing and very careful BYO short drive

$$$ Distrito - West Philly, great mexi tapas. really high end stuff. Short drive

$Sazon - Venezuelan. The chef will even hand cut fries and cook everything in separate oil for you. Cheap no atmosphere but good food. BYO. Short cab or drive.

$$$ Bibou - I have heard that this chef does a great job with gluten allergies. We have a reservation in a few weeks. 10 min drive.

Go to whole foods for great GF desserts etc. They have wonderful cup cakes in the freezer case.

You can also go to the main website for Chicago Grill Pizzeria Uno. They have a gluten-free menu and have quite a few locations in the Philly area.

THere's also a health food store in south philly (4th street below south st.) called Essene, they have a pretty good selection of GF products as well. As for restaurants, I have eaten at POD in west philly, near Univ. of Penn. (pricey but good and fun astmosphere), they keep GF soy sauce on hand to make most things on menu GF, they are asian fusion, and sushi.

Five Guys is on Chestnut a couple of blocks west of Broad st. Their fries are hand cut and they do not fry anything else in the oil (they don't make anything else fried). You could probablyget a burger without the bunthere too. Their fries are great.

Located on Philadelphia's famed South Street in Center City, My Thai is a favorite of local celiacs because of chef-owner Id's willingness to make any dish on the menu gluten free. In fact, My Thai and Id were featured in an article about Triumph Dining in the Philadelphia Inquirier earlier this year. The next time you're in Philadelphia, don't miss the chance to try Id's homestyle Thai cooking. My Thai is located 2200 South St. and can be reached by phone at (215) 985-1878.

There is a TGI Fridays within walking distance of the Franklin Institute and of course there are Outback, Carrabba's, and PF Chang's in the area. If your fussy 8 year old likes Mexican, there is a Qdoba (www.qdoba.com) at 16th and Walnut. I get their 3 cheese nachos and have had no reaction to them and they have a lot of kid friendly burritos and stuff for non-celiacs. Walnut
Street is sort of the artsy street (along with South street) in Philly and I love sitting at the counter in Qdoba's window and watching the Walnut street people walk past as I eat.

I have CD and live in Philadelphia and I eat Cheesesteaks all the time. You just have to make sure the french fries are GF, then ask them to make a normal cheesesteak (I like provolone, onions, and hot peppers), except I ask them to put the fries on a plate and then put the cheesesteak sans roll on top of the fries. Sweet Lucy's is a family owned and operated BBQ place where they make everything from scratch. They won't change things to make them CD, but they are good about discussing the ingredients with you and I've found plenty there that I can eat.

Radicchio, on 4th Street in Philadelphia has also been great.

Matyson downtown Philly
Rae Restaurant at 30th St Station - Rave Review
This new venue has an excellent adaptable menu, great sides, careful and communicative staff and GREAT chefs! When I made the reservation I informed the staff of my allergies (which they
wrote down) and was reassured that the server and chefs would work with me to create a safe meal. I had the beet and goat cheese salad with truffle vinaigrette (their regular goat cheese is whipped with flour - so they opened a new package for me and it was wonderful). For my meal I had the roast chicken (without panko bread crumbs) and a side of mashed potatoes that were heavenly. They even went to the trouble of making a special gluten free dessert just for me with several fruit presentations! There were many other options on the menu that would have been very tasty. I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant for a great meal!

Outback

Memphis Taproom

Cheeseburger in Paradise

Carrabba's - Painful Experience - Will NOT Be Dining Here Again

One is the Museum Restaurant in the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It's an upscale restaurant and very good. We had lunch there and I had a salade nicoise with ahi tuna - absolutely divine!! I discussed the menu items and told the waiter my restrictions. He checked with the chef before I
ordered to make sure my selection was GF. A very positive experience and
excellent food. URL: http://www.philamuseum.org/visit/12-53-465-320.html

One evening we went to "Tango" at 39 Morris Ave., Bryn Mawr. We were told the chef's son has many food problems and the restaurant is very aware of gluten-free. The food is good. I would recommend this one, too. URL: http://www.tastetango.com/index.html

Sazon in Philadelphia. It's a great Venezuelan restaurant. Best of all, they can do soy-free, too. I had a grilled veggie arepa, two different appetizers of plantains, and some amazing hot chocolate. Bob does brilliant things with chocolate. Real chocolate. He's planning some amazing chocolate options for fall. I'm definitely returning for Thanksgiving or the December holidays.

* King of Prussia:

A few chains in the KoP Plaza mall with either GF menus or will work with you, including:

Maggiano’s Little Italy

Legal Sea Foods

Morton’s the Steakhouse

Five Guys, (www.fiveguys.com/faq.aspx)

Cheesecake Factory

Chick-fil-a - I have a salad and waffle fries

Philly Cheese steak place in the Plaza– cheese steak on top of the fries (that’s all they make

Outside of these areas:

Must not miss Jules Thin Crust Pizza (GF) in Doylestown.

The one restaurant that stood out as everyone's 'sure thing' is Pasta Pomodora in Voorhees, NJ. If you're crossing the Delaware River, Pasta Pomodora has a GF menu that’s been said to rival any regular menus, including desserts). Their website is: www.pastapomodoronj.com_
The staff is knowledgeable and accommodating. In addition to a typical (non-gf) Italian menu for the rest of the world, they have an extensive gluten-free menu...pasta, pizza, garlic bread. All delicious and reasonably priced. BYOB.
