ALLERGY ALERT - NEW INFORMATION REGARDING
UNDECLARED WHEAT IN CONIMEX KETJAP MANIS BRAND
INDONESIAN SWEET SOYA SAUCE

Ottawa, October 23,  2000 -- The Canadian Food Inspection Agency(CFIA)
is warning people with allergies to wheat  not to consume Indonesian
Sweet Soya Sauce (Product of Holland) in 125mL, 250mL, 500mL,
1000mL, and 10L containers.   The CFIA is expanding the warning issued
on October 19, 2000 to include additional sizes of this product. This
product, manufactured by Best Foods Benelux B.V., Division Conimex in
Holland, may contain wheat not declared on the label.

These products may be distributed nationally.

Consumption of this product is of concern to those with an allergy to wheat.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the product.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is monitoring the effectiveness of
the recall.
