Events Added For Charlotte Gluten-Free/Allergen Free Expo
Scheduled For April 30
 
Charlotte,  NC -- A host of special presentations has been added to the agenda 
for  the second annual Charlotte Gluten-Free Expo, to be held Saturday, April  
30 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Blake Hotel at 555 McDowell St.  in 
Charlotte, N.C. Tickets will be $5 per person in advance; $10 per  person at the 
door. Registration is available at http://charlottegfexpo.blogspot.com/ -- click 
on "Attendee Registration" to download the mail-in form.
 
The events schedule for the Gluten-Free/Allergen Free Expo includes:
 
9:30 – 10:30 a.m.: Alessio Fasano, M.D., Director of the Center for Celiac 
Research (http://celiaccenter.org/),  at the University of Maryland School of 
Medicine, will present the  latest research on diagnosis and treatment of celiac 
disease
 
10:30 am – 3:30 p.m.: Vendor Expo is open, featuring 75 companies offering 
gluten-free products and samples
 
11 am – 12 pm: Presentation from Charlotte Gastroenterology & Hepatology
 
11:30  am – 12:30 pm: Gluten-free cooking demonstration by Chef on Assignment  
Peter Reinhart of Johnson & Wales University, recipient of the James  Beard 
Award, and author of cookbooks including "Gluten Free & Low  Carb"
 
1 – 2 pm: Gluten-free cooking demonstration by Chef Pamela Roberts of CPCC 
Culinary 

 
12:30 - 2:30 pm: Dr. Peter Osborne of Gluten Free Society will present about 
"Going Grain Free When Gluten Free Isn't Working"
 
1:30 - 2:30 pm: Chef Pamela Roberts, Director of Culinary at CPCC will present 
"Quick & Easy Gluten Free”
 
2:30  pm – 4:30 pm: Jules Shepard from Jules Gluten Free will offer a gluten  
free/allergen free cooking class at an additional ticket charge of $40.
 
The  lead sponsor of the 2011 Gluten-Free Expo is Charlotte  Gastroenterology. 
Other major sponsors include Healthy Home Market,  Earthfare, Gluten Free 
Society and Carolina Digestive Health Associates. 
The  inaugural Charlotte Gluten-Free Expo was held August 7, 2010 at Johnson  & 
Wales University and attracted a capacity crowd of nearly 400  participants who 
enjoyed gluten-free food samples and information from  more than 50 vendors. By 
moving to the Blake Hotel, the Expo will be  able to accommodate 1700 
participants.
