Greetings and I am sorry that I did not get this out sooner. My mother passed away on Oct 27,,,,so it has been very very busy.

The following is the information I received. There was a family member that made some sweet potato dish that had Barcardi Rum in it, I did try the web site for Barcardi and go no where, however appreciated the following information.

I'm new to the list. The information I'm sending you is from pp. 116-17 of
Jules E. Dowler Shepard's book, The First Year: Celiac Disease and Living
Gluten Free, copyright 2008. She indicates that the "distillation process
removes gluten peptides from many popular alcoholic drinks" and that "other
alcohols that are grain-based and not distilled such as malt beverages like
many wine coolers and most beers, are absolutely not safe for those on a
gluten-free diet."

According to Shepard, these Gluten-Free brews are available in the U.S.:
Bard's Tale
New Grist
Green's
Hambleton Ales
Ramapo Valley Grewery Honey Beer

Shepard's list of popular alcohols that are Gluten-Free:
Armagnac
Bailey's Irish Cream
Brandy
Bourbon
Champagne
Cider (with no barley additives)
Cognac
Frangelico
Gin
Grappa
Jagermeister
Kahlua
Mead
Ouzo
Rum
Sake (w/o rice syrup or other barley additives)
Scotch whiskey
Sherry
Tequila
Vermouth
Vodka
Whiskey
Wine (including ports, sherries, & sparkling wines)

You will have to sign on to use the site, but it is free. Go to messages, and in left column, at the top, you will find a list of GF products. this list is updated every 3 months. I believe alchol is the first thing on the list.
