Hello there-

For those of you who are interested, I have been trying to locate some more
information on the public meeting in Washington, DC in August that the FDA is
sponsering on Food Labeling. (Docket OOP-1322). I live in the DC area and
want to attend but couldn't find any information on the FDA website as to
time and specific location. I contacted my local FDA representative and
this is the email I received. I will post any additional information that I
recieve:

What you see below is a copy of the "Dear Colleague" letter that
went out in June announcing the August 13 meeting. As you can see, it is a
"public" meeting. Other than that, it doesn't furnish any of the details,
but rather references a Federal Register notice.

I've searched the Federal Registers and talked to my liaison in our Center
for Food Safety. The notice hasn't been published yet.

I'll certainly keep on top of this for you and send you the announcement as
soon as I see it.

the meeting is to stimulate discussion and to obtain information to assist
FDA determine what additional actions may be necessary to provide consumers
with adequate information on product labels. The meeting will focus on three
areas: (1) source or plain English labeling; (2) supplemental labeling
(e.g., "may contain" labeling); and (3) labeling of ingredients exempted
from declaration (i.e., common or usual names of flavorings, spices, and
colors; incidental additives). A Federal Register notice detailing the
