I am an American, planning an extended trip to Europe this summer with
three gf kids who are fairly picky eaters (and a gf husband who doesn't care
for rice, hee, hee). We are trying to stay in places where we will at
least have access to a microwave, so we can prepare simple foods for them.
In the interest of our budget we will be doing lots of picnicing and
relatively little eating in restaurants. I have several questions
regarding grocery shopping, which i realize may be somewhat different
depending upon what country we are in. We will mostly be in western Europe
: Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, and Austria. We will
also be venturing into Poland and the Czech republic. we will be primarily
in larger cities.

Will we be able to find American-style peanut butter in grocery stores?
Will we be able to buy Minute Rice, success Rice or some equivalent version
(I'm thinking in terms of rice you can prepare by simply boiling water in a
micro). How available are gluten-free rice cakes and rice crackers, two
mainstays of our diet. Are there special stores where we will find gf
groceries, or will we be able to find things in regular grocery stores and
markets. Is there some identification of gluten status on the packaging?

i appreciate any guidance you can offer, and i will summarize for others,
Lynn
