Until this year i just didn't go to any of the store parties. I work for a
small grocery store that has only added Natural/health foods in the last few
years, and I was the first vegetarian/healthfood kinda person they'd ever
employed. It was just too much culture shock at first, so i stayed home for
the Christmas steak dinners, the Fourth of July barbecues, etc.
Now this year, there are 8 vegetarians coming to the Christmas party, and
the owners came to me to ask me to come up with a recipe for all of us to
eat, which they would take to the chef at our reserved resaurant. I went
them one better and volunteered to make something. I felt too awkward about
going into long discussions with yer basic surf-n-turf chef about make me
something with organic ingredients, and no wheat, oats, rye, barley, soy,
dairy, eggs.....He'd just think i was insane.

Now i can make vegetarian, organic Polenta Lasagne, and i will for once be
able to attend the party in company of other non-carnivores. I'm looking
forward to it! And i assure you no one will miss the wheat.
