Rep. Lowey has introduced two food labeling bills -- H.R.

1356 and H.R. 4704. It is the most recent one, H.R. 4704
that matters at this point.

In terms of where the legislative action will take place,
with Rep. Lowey not on the House Committee with
jurisdiction (Energy and Commerce), and her party not in
the majority, the chances the House will move the bill
first are pretty slim.

Senator Kennedy, being Chairman of the Senate Committee
with jurisdiction, dictates which bills will move and when.

I think it is merely a matter of timing in the Senate.

This being June, an election year, and less than 60
legislative days left, it is possible the bill may make it
out of the Senate. Not sure how likely it is the bill
could get through the House.
