Dear Listmates,

I have looked many places on the Internet and have not been able to find
ribbon (flattened) stool listed as a symptom for anything. The only thing
I know is that I have it and have had it since a few weeks prior to my
diagnosis with CD via blood tests the beginning of March. Back in January,
I asked the doctor I first went to about it and he said he sees 300 people
a year with it and of that number only 2 or 3 have a problem. Is this some
rare irritable bowel symptom or ? So far, I have had varying tests that
showed minor inflammation (CAT scan, colonoscopy, upper GI, small bowel
work-up), the inconclusive (ruined) biopsy, as well as follow-up blood
work. Lastly, I had a "normal" EnteroVue Upper GI test this past week. My
next appointment with my doctor is 6 wks. away and I have left a message
for them to ask him about this for me.

I am feeling much better on this diet. Still have one spot of occasional
discomfort and some bouts of burping, so I consider myself quite fortunate
thus far. I understand there are some doctors on this listserv and would
appreciate any "not medical advice" or suggestions as to where to look on
Internet re: ribbon stool.

Many thanks. Your time is much appreciated. Have a good one.

Mary B.
