I thought others might like to view Quaker's response. I
did not request this information, a curious friend did.
Keep in mind that gluten sensitivity (affecting >12% of
the population) is not the same thing as gluten
intolerance or celiac disease (affecting approximately 1%
of the population). Reference: "Dangerous Grains" by Ron
Hoggan

I get ill when I eat Quaker Cream of Rice cereal which
used to be labeled "Gluten Free" and I get ill when I eat
their rice cakes. I do not react to rice.

RE: Quaker Oats , REF.# 026113773A

Vanessa:

We understand the importance of gluten sensitivity. As a
result, we do our best to provide accurate information so
that you can make informed choices.

Oats themselves do not contain gluten. However, they are
handled and transported in bulk with gluten-containing
grains such as wheat, rye and barley. There is the
possibility that our final product could contain trace
amounts of these grains. This can occur if the oats are
grown in fields or transported in vehicles that once
contained these other grains.

Since the kernels of the other grains are similar in size,
shape and color to the oat kernel, it is almost impossible
to separate them. Therefore, we cannot guarantee any
Quaker Oats to be gluten free. In fact, the only product
we make which is gluten free is Aunt Jemima Syrup. We also
believe the plain and lightly salted varieties of Quaker
Rice Cakes to be safe for gluten sensitive consumers.

We appreciate your continued interest in our products,
Vanessa, and hope this information will be helpful.
