Hi, everyone,

I've only been GF since late September 2001, so I haven't had to deal
with this before. We're invited to my cousin's wedding in June. What do
I do about eating at the wedding reception? From the venue of the
reception, I know that they will either be hiring an outside caterer or
the family will be cooking much of the food themselves (which is fairly
likely). From the time of the wedding, the reception will probably be a
full evening meal.

What have some of you done? Do you let the family know about your
dietary restrictions? Wedding planning is so stressful anyway, I
hesitate to cause one more worry. Do you bring your own food? Ask what's
being served? Offer to talk to the caterer yourself?

Gee whiz, I still feel like a troublemaker when I ask about ingredients
in restaurants (I went out yesterday, and the waiter looked at me like I
was crazy for wanting to know what was in their dishes!). If there's one
positive about this disease in my life, it's that celiac is making this
introvert learn to stand up for myself more often.
