In the old days ( late '40's & early '50's) a group of doctors thought
radiation could cure anything.  I had radiation treatments to my sinuses and
bronchial tubes to "cure" the thick mucous secretions resulting from
untreated celiac disease.  The condition was complicated by mistreatment by a
maniac mother suffering from advanced brain symptoms of untreated celiac
disease.  I got radiation sickness (vomiting and extreme loss of weight) and
nearly died.  Not that I was in such good shape to begin with.
