I have investigated Negra Modelo beer, and am sad to tell you that it is
_not_ GF. I posted an inquiry in the Usenet News Group alt.beer, and
received the folowing two responses:

1. From: Barry M Rodstein <[log in to unmask]>

"Someone else may have more specific info, however, Negro Modelo is considered
to be a Vienna Style Lager. Given this, as well as its taste I'm almost sure
it is made primarily (if not entirely) from malted barley."

2. From: Jon Binkley <[log in to unmask]>

"Negra Modelo most certainly has some barley in it. Corn and/or
rice may be minor ingredients, but I suspect that most of
the grist is barley malt.

I'm afraid your wife is out of luck. Eliminating both wheat
and barley knocks out every commerically available beer that
I'm aware of. She'd do best to stick to wine and cider."

3. I then called The Gambrinus Company, in San Antonio, TX. [(800)
596-6486]. Wendy, in their marketing department took notes from my
questions, asked one of the marketing managers, and called me back promptly
with the reply:

"Negra Modelo is definitely made from malted barley."

Caveat Drinkor!!!
