Dear ListMates,

I recently emailed Mead Johnson to confirm the gluten-free status of Viactiv
Soft Calcium Chews. Below is the response to my inquiry, along with my
original email to the company. It was gratifying to receive such a positive
response.

Patricia, Thank you for contacting Mead Johnson. We're delighted to hear that
Viactiv is meeting your need for a calcium supplement. What you heard is
correct. All flavors of our Viactiv Soft Calcium Chews are gluten-free, so
feel free to enjoy your daily calcium intakes. Please let us know if you have
additional questions. Thank you for using our Mead Johnson products. Best
regards, Michelle

To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Question re: Ingredients Hello, I love
your Viactiv Soft Chews, especially the caramel flavor. I'm writing to
confirm what I have previously learned, that the product is, indeed,
gluten-free. I have Celiac Disease and thus must be on a strict gluten-
free diet. As you no doubt know, malabsorption due to gluten intolerance
is a huge risk factor in development of osteoporosis. I'm a 50 year old
female and have had severe premature osteoporosis since my early 40's,
due to Celiac Disease that was undiagnosed until I was 48! So I
definitely need calcium supplementation, and the calcium supplementation
I take must be gluten-free. Thanks in advance for your help!
