I want to thank everyone for responding to me. This was the first question
that I posted to the list, and I am overjoyed at the amount of caring people
that took the time to respond to me. Thank you again!
I want to summarize my responses, but first, I want to let everyone know that
I did make an appointment with a diffrent Dr. (one who actually knows about
Celiac) so that I could have a second opinion. I also want to go to a Dr. that
I feel comfortable going to. The Dr. that diagnosed me first said I had a
Doedonal Ulcer, than two days later, decided it was Celiac. I am just not
comfortable with his conclusion.

Here are some of the responses:

1. I was anemic for over 14 years and that is a red flag for Celicac.

2. Several people wondered (as did I) why they suddendly got Celiac. Celciac
seems to be triggered at any time, especially after a trauma, or stress.

3. Just because I am not aware of people in my family having CD, they very
well may have it, or have had it and no one knew. (BTW: My mom was tested and
she does not have it.)

4. The bloating and weight gain is because I have been GF for three months
and my gut is finally healing, and is able to aborb the food. That is actually a
good thing, although I really hate that I gained 10 lbs!!!!

The weight gain can also be because I am over-eating the foods I can eat,
since I am no longer allowed to eat the foods I once did.

Another reason for the bloating could be because I am not eating entirely GF,
meaning, I am ingesting Gluten without realizing it. One person told me that
I should never use a toaster that had regular bread in it, remove all wooden
kitchen equipment, don't eat out of contaminated jars (i.e.Peanut Butter that
was used with regular bread), clean the silver ware drawer for crumbs, don't
lick envelopes.

One person asked me if I checked my toothpaste, mouthwash, gum and lip stick
to see if they were all GF but I do not know what to check for. Can someone
summarize?

5. Many said IBS is just an excuse Dr's diganose you with when they aren't
sure what you have...that was frightening to me because I know several people
that are taking medication specifically for IBS.

6. I should avoid milk products at least for 2-4 months because I may be
lactose intolerant...another disturbing fact, since my Dr. never told me to do
this.

7. Take an L-glutimine or probiotic with meals to help the healing process.

Again, thanks to everyone for your responses!
