Because of my very sensitive and itchy skin, my dermatologist
recently told me to switch to Cetaphil, a very mild, rinse-off
cleanser by Galderma that happens to be a favorite of dermatologists.
Very cheap, too.
I wrote to Galderma to inquire about Cetaphil's gluten status,
and received the following:

> Thank you for contacting us about our product line.
> We always welcome requests for information from
> our customers. Galderma Laboratories, Inc.
> markets both cosmetic and prescription products.

This same very expensive NYU Medical Center doctor also changed
my moisturizer to - believe it or not - Crisco. Yes, the same old
vegetable shortening we use to make pie crusts.
He said Crisco was the purest, mildest moisturizer around, and
that most of the claims made by the more expensive moisturizer is just
so much hype. To convince me, he pulled down books by plastic surgeons
(one of them, I remember, was the recently published "Everything You
Always Wanted to Know about Plastic Surgery"), where they talk about
how they prescribe Crisco before and after face lifts. One doctor
wrote that he had his nurse put Crisco into cute little jars labelled
"special moisturizer" to keep intact the illusions of his patients.
So there you are - a great moisturizer that happens to be totally
GF!
                                             Regards to all,
                                                      Mary n NYC
P.S. The original Crisco, obviously, not the butter flavored kind!
