My doctor just prescribed rozerem (generic name ramelteon) for me. It is a sleep medication. I spoke with a representative from Takeda Pharmaceuticals. I asked him what the base of the starch was that is listed as one of the inactive ingredients. He said that although none of the ingredients contain gluten he could not guarantee that it was gluten free because the company does not have control over the manufacture of it (e.g. coming in contact with gluten in the manufacturing process). When I asked him to identify the basis of the starch he said he could not do that. It sounds to me like the company may be covering themselves for legal purposes. Has anyone had any experience with Rozerem or ramelteon? I checked glutenfreedrugs.com and did not find the medication listed.

Thank you for any information you can provide.
