On August 13th, 2003 a message was posted to this list requesting volunteers
to test out a new Celiac Disease community based website. Almost immediately
the responses began pouring in. In total there were 102 people who were
interested in trying out the website.

The first 5 respondents were sent the URL to the site. When there seemed to
be no major flaws reported, then the next 10 were invited. Batch invitations
were sent out over the course of around 3 weeks until all 102 respondents
were invited.

A handful of people reported their experiences and provided insight into how
to make the website more user friendly. Changes were made to reflect these
opinions.

Out of the 102 that were invited to try out the website, 31 registered as a
member, and 1 added a product to the products database.

At this point the website is ready to be used by the general public. In
order for it to become a valuable asset it requires contributions of
information by a community of people. The most important contribution you
could make to help the site get off its feet is to add a product to the
products database, or post a message to the forum.

There will be no formal advertising of the site so its success depends on
you. If you have a website then it would be a great help to add a link to
the URL somewhere on your site.

Thank you
