It is probably best to get veggies and fruits with no coating on them
given that the wax contains formaldehyde in addition to other things
that even a non-celiac might want to avoid eating.
 
In terms of washing,
I find that luke-warm water with a little vinegar (GF, of course)
works quite well to lift the wax coating off of veggies.
