Many, many thanks to all who sent warm, encouraging responses to my
request for info on eating in Ireland. I've tried to respond
individually, but if I missed anyone, please know how much I appreciate
everyone's good suggestions and reminders.  Not a single person said,
"Don't go!"  So, I've signed up for this trip and will let you know how
things work out, when I actually travel in May, 1998.

Most everyone who has travelled there said that restaurants are quite
helpful, even to the point of listing GF items on menus, in certain
cases.

Specific suggestions received:
1.  Trastevere's Italian Restaurant in Temple Bar (Dublin)
2.  Roly's Bistro (Dublin)

Good reminders I received for any trip:
1.  Take emergency food with you - especially for air travel (the airlines'
record on providing GF meals seems to range from mediocre to horrible)
2. Ask the usual questions of servers, chefs, and restaurant managers - how
are dishes prepared?  Can alternatives be substituted?
3.  Carry multiple copies of a good restaurant card (see Jax Peters Lowell's
*Against the Grain* for suggestions and cards translated into other
languages)
4.  Look for and request plain meats, poultry, seafood, as well as veggies
and fruit prepared in GF ways.
