Hello Friends,

I have just been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and need to start taking medication. My doctor is recommending Synthroid but from what I have read this drug is not guaranteed to be GF (per glutenfreedrugs.org). I also read that this drug reduces your bone density (I already have osteoporosis at the age of 35) and that it decreases the absorption of iron and calcium. I am not sure this is the right drug of choice for me. Are there other medications out there that are safer for a celiac? I am also curious to know what the groups thoughts are on treating hypothyroidism with natural supplements vs. prescription medication?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
Sarah
