Regarding the Reuters Health report of the Mayo Clinic study showing no
association between Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Celiac Disease, the following
article may prove interesting. In my own experience, as well as many people whom I
know personally, diagnosed IBS has completely cleared up following the
institution of a gluten free diet.

According to Dr. Kenneth Fine, there are vast numbers of people suffering the
effects of non-Celiac gluten sensitivity, who would test negative on standard
blood tests and intestinal biopsies, who, nonetheless, find tremendous
improvements in health upon adopting the gluten free diet. Perhaps many of those
people diagnosed with IBS but negative for Celiac, are still gluten sensitive.
Sadly, they are told to continue their regular gluten containing diets, since
they are not testing positive for Celiac.
