Hi everyone. I haven't read this one before. This week I bought a huge
can of Food Service (Nestle) instant mashed potatoes, for those days
when we need a quick meal. The name on the can is TRIO. We had them
for supper last night and our son who we think has celiac (the blood
work was negative) got up at the end of the meal with strong pains in
his stomach, gas and burping and went and on the couch feeling very ill.
He did not know that these potatoes were different than regular potatoes
and said, I guess I don't have what dad has because there was no wheat
in this meal. My husband who is a biopsied celiac about the same time
also got strong pains, stomach cramps and burbing and felt ill all
evening. The rest of us (6 more people) had no reaction whatsoever.
These Trio mashed potatoes have quite the list of ingredients, but I
could not find anything relating to gluten. Have any of you had similar
experiences with instant mashed potatoes? (I emailed the company, but
this takes some time for an answer). Thanks for any suggestions or
insights you may have.
