There have been several postings recently about energy bars, including
Balance Bars. As stated in these postings, at least some of the several
versions of Balance Bars are GF – you can check their ingredients list
to confirm this.

However, note that Balance has a block on their bar wrapper, in addition
to the ingredients, titled "Allergy Information". For the "High
Protein" Balance bars that I use, this block says: "MANUFACTURED ON
EQUIPMENT THAT PROCESSES...WHEAT."

This makes cross-contamination a potential problem. I have only a mild
case of celiac, so I don't react to mild exposure to gluten. My own
experience suggests that this cross-contamination varies between
production lots – sometimes I get no reaction, other times I do get a
mild reaction.
