I got just a few responses to my question on zylitol. Apparently, it
and sorbitol (which my guts did not like in the past) are sugar-alcohols
and can act as laxatives in SOME people. A few people suggested that I
try using stevia. I have done that but it is not a one-for-one sugar
substitute like zylitol so I have had trouble making good baked goods
with it. I was told of the web site www.xylitolworks.com or www.xylitol-
works.com for more details. I checked it out and it sounds like a good
product. I am going to go ahead and make some cookies for my diabetic
friends with the zylitol. I will eat one cookie myself and see what
happens. I hope my intestines have now healed to the point where
zylitol agrees with me. Barb in Springfield, OH
