There have been a few questions re/Lactaid and so I decided to respond to
the list since others may also be interested:

I have just this week contacted the Lactaid company. The company states:

Lactaid milk is treated at the dairy with liquid drops which use a natural
enzyme made from natural yeast. This enzyme is mixed with glycerine and
water and added directly to the milk. They state the product and the
resulting milk is GF.
The Lactaid tablets have no gluten containing products in them, however they
are not produced on "dedicated" equipment, and therefore there may be some
contamination from wheat, barley, rye, etc. Because of this they do not say
the tablets are gluten free.

I received this information from Vivian at Consumer Affairs. This can be
verified by calling 1-800-LACTAID 9-5 EST.

It seems each day brings us a new question to be concerned about. Hope this
helps......
