I've been out of town for several days so didn't get to put in my 2 cents on
this subject.

I have dairy & soy allergies, so I've totally given up on bars. Besides,
every protein bar I've ever seen contains other ingredients I just don't
want to put in my body. But I have found a couple of portable, convenient &
satisfying protein snacks:

(1) BEEF JERKY. All Oberto flavors are GF except teriyaki.
(2) CRISPY PECANS. I buy raw pecans, soak them in salted water for 4 to 6
hours, then dehydrate them until crispy. Delicious. Soaking them takes
away the bitter phytic acid that is irritating to the GI track. I can eat
these every day w/o problems. (Please don't ask me how much salt & water I
use or how long I dehydrate them. I can't answer that because I dunno.)
