The posting from yesterday regarding whether or not gluten ingestion could trigger a Crohn's flare up really caught my attention. I've also been curious about the connection (if any) between these two particular diseases. My daughter, now age 16, was diagnosed with celiac disease at age 4. I was diagnosed with Crohn's last year. When my symptoms first began, I was tested (via blood work and small bowel endoscopy) for celiac disease, but those results were negative. I've always thought that it couldn't be mere coincidence that she and I both have autoimmune diseases of the bowel.
