Years ago at a CSA meeting somebody gave a talk on liquor and he
said: Distilling any product removes all the protein which makes it
safe for celiacs. HOWEVAH! they then put in stuff which makes it
taste good and that is not good for celiacs.

Vodka supposedly does not have anything added that makes it taste
good therefore it's safe for celiacs.

This is also true of vinegar. Distilled white vinegar is safe until
they put the stuff in to preserve it. (They have to "preserve" vinegar?)

Back to vodka, please. I think it's safe whether it's made from
grain or potatoes.

Now, olives. Want to taste something great whether in or out of your
cocktail? Cut up several cloves of garlic and put those slivers into
a jar of olives. Let sit for 30 days, turning the jar upside down
every few days. They are so good that you start a couple of jars
every few weeks so you don't run out. You don't have to have vodka
to enjoy these olives, but it's a nice touch.
