<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>>

The volume of mail on Celiac has resulted in a larger than normal number
of errors (full disks). This is especially noticeable for AOL IDs.

If you do not receive any mail for a 24 hour period, this might be the
best place to start researching the source of the problem. When your
provider's disk assigned to your ID is full, there is no way for the
Listowners to communicate this information to you. A query to the
LISTSERV or one of the Listowners will not result in any replies, all
replies are bounced (returned) to the sender.

We can reduce this type of problems, by utilizing the following general
rules.

1. Ask yourself if the posting pertains to the subject of being a celiac
or adapting to the GF lifestyle.

2. Use selected quotating when replying to a message. This means to
reduce a previous message to only those lines needed as a lead in to your
reply.

3. Evaluate your reply before sending it to the List. Is it directed at
only a single individual or does the majority of the List have an interest
in the subject.

4. It is critical when seeing the disclaimer notice to determine if your
reply is going to a person or the List.

5. When you receive a private reply, that is of interest to the List,
repost it for everyone's benefit. In your postings, invite replies to
your ID, with a statement that you will summarize back to the List.

6. Replies are not required for every message that you see on the List.
Me-toos and thank-yous are not improving the quality of this List, they
only create additional mail to scan each day.

7. If you are a new subscriber, remember to read the system reference
files or perform a database search before posting a question.

To improve the appearance of messages, it is requested that you change you
mail program configuration to 73 columns instead of the old standard of 80
columns.

If you have any questions about what your mail program is doing? Try
sending a message to yourself and then replying to it. This is an
excellent way of understanding how your posted message will look.

I have posted a wonderful reference file on netequiette on the LISTSERV.

The above thoughts are not hard fast rules, only thoughts on how to
improve our List. If you have any thoughts or questions on this subject,
please email me at my personal address.
